About Us

The Zimmerman Highkin Group's mission is
to help strong individuals and organizations become
more effective, creative, and connected. We envision being
facilitative leaders who collaborate with others to build
sustainable and transformational projects, programs,
and organizations.

Each of us has worked in education, from elementary to university,
specializing in visual arts, literature, and theater. Both of us have
served in local arts agencies as executives and funding specialists.
Together in 1990, we founded a nonprofit community arts organization
in San Diego that continues its work today. We funded it through
earned and contributed income, reaching as much as a half million
dollars annually.

Our philosophy is that leadership is a form of service, art is a tool of
inquiry, and marketing is rooted in education. Creative planning
involves all voices and adapts structure as needed. Inclusivity is
essential to making a viable and vibrant organization. Finding the
right scale and context is critical when building a sustainable project,
program, or organization.
